Bread Dhokla : A Delicious Breakfast Recipe

Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Bread : 5 slices
  • Sooji/ semolina : 1/2 cup
  • Curd : 2 tablespoon
  • Green Chilli : 2
  • Ginger : 1 inch piece grated
  • Eno : 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetabe Oil : 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander Leaves : As per taste
  • Spices ( As per taste): Red chilli powder, Turmeric powder, Chaat masala
  • Salt as per taste
  • For tempering : Mustard Seeds, Asafoetida/hing, curry leaves, chopped green chilies
  • Water : 2 cups ( For batter)

Instructions

  1. Churn the bread into pieces in a grinder. Add these bread crumbs, sooji, curd, salt and 2 cups of water in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Add grated ginger, chopped green chilies, coriander leaves and all the spices mentioned .
  3. Mix the batter well and make sure that the batter is a little thick as we make for pakoras.
  4. Boil some water in an idli steamer. Meanwhile add eno to the batter, mix it and instantly pour the batter into the ildi mould. Put the mould immediately in the steamer and cover. Let it cook for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Once steamed, let it cool down. Take the dhoklas out of the mould. Cut it into pieces.
  6. For tempering / tadka : Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and chopped green chili.
  7. Once the tadka is prepared, put the dhokla pieces into it & mix well. You can also add red chilies if you want to make it more spicy.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Yummy Bread Dhokla is now ready. Have it with with coriander chutney and enjoy your day !
