Suji Malpua is a popular Indian dessert.

Suji Malpua is a mouthwatering sweet prepared during festive occasions. The malpua made of semolina, mawa/khoya and milk, soaked in the sugar syrup. The malpua shallow fried in ghee/clarified butter which gives a rich test to the dish. However, there are several methods to make this yummy dish. But this is an instant recipe which requires very less effort and time. This fennel seeds and cardamom flavoured dish very popular in the Northern part of India. This can be served with rabdi which is another sweet preparation. This can be a sugary and delicious treat for everyone. So, try to make this quick and easy dessert and enjoy with family and friends. They will love this sweet very much.

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS FOR MALPUA:-
  • Suji/Semolina - 1 Cup
  • Khoya/Mawa/Reduced Milk Solids - 1/4 Cup
  • Powdered sugar - 1/4 Cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Crushed Fennel seed - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Milk - 1/2 Cup or more
  • Baking soda - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - for greasing and shallow frying
  • INGREDIENTS FOR SUGAR SYRUP:-
  • Sugar - 1 Cup
  • Water - 1 Cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Saffron strands - few
  • INGREDIENTS FOR GARNISHNING:-
  • Cardamom powder - use as required
  • Chopped Mixed dry nuts - use as required

Instructions

  1. PREPARING MALPUA:-
  2. Take a mixing bowl and add semolina, cardamom powder, crushed fennel seeds, mawa or reduced milk solids, milk. Mix well. Then add powdered sugar and mix well. The batter should be of flowing consistency. Add more milk if required.
  3. Add baking soda to the batter. Mix well.
  4. Meanwhile, heat a non-stick tawa. Pour some ghee to grease it.
  5. Pour a laddleful batter to make small sized malpua. Cook it on a medium flame.
  6. Once the bubbles appered on the edges, flip it. Cook from another side. Pour some ghee over it and cook.
  7. Once the malpua turns nice golden brown from both the sides then take them out. Keep aside.
  8. PREPARING SUGAR SYRUP:-
  9. Take a pan and add sugar, water. Heat it.
  10. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Let it boil. Cook it to get one-string consistency sugar syrup.
  11. Add cardamom powder and saffron strands. Mix it, then switch off the gas. Sugar syrup is ready.
  12. Dip and soak the malpua in warm sugar syrup for 5 to 10 minutes.
  13. Then take them out on a plate.
  14. SERVING:-
  15. Take a serving plate, place the malpua. Sprinkle cardamom powder. Garnish it with chopped dry nuts.
  16. Yummy 'Suji Malpua' is ready to be served.
