Ingredients

  • Water chestnut (boil for 5 minutes) - 15 pieces
  • Corn flour - 1 tablespoon
  • All purpose flour - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 1 cup
  • Ginger (finely chopped) - 1 inch
  • Garlic (finely chopped) - 5 cloves
  • Sweet chilli sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Tomato sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Soya sauce - 1/2 tablespoon
  • Spring onion (finely chopped) - 1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. In a bowl add water chestnut, corn flour, all purpose flour, salt and mix it well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry all the water-chestnut till it turns golden brown. Keep them aside.
  3. In another pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil. Add ginger, garlic and saute. Add sweet chili sauce and fry for 2 minutes.
  4. Add salt, soya sauce, red chilli powder and little water. Stir it and cook for 2 more minutes.
  5. Add fried water-chestnut and saute for 2 minutes. Pour tomato sauce and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle spring onion and mix it well. Turn off the flame.
  7. Garnish few more of spring onions and water chestnuts in schezwan gravy is ready to be served.
