Tawa pakoda – Instant Recipe is a famous snack of India.

Tawa pakoda – Instant Recipe is a crispy, healthy, and quick party snack recipe. It uses boiled potato slices and a batter of gram flour with methi leaves. Hence it is a protein-rich dish with other nutritional benefits. Moreover, the pakoda is made differently in various parts of India. Everyone loves this dish because it is crispy from the outside and soft from the inside. However, the pakoda is deep-fried, but here we prepared it by shallow frying. Tips and Suggestions by a Mom Chef:

  • Don’t overcook the potatoes as they become too soft. Cook it upto 90%.
  • You can use semolina instead of rice flour.
  • Skip rice flour if you want.
  • You can add any vegetables to the batter as per your choice.
  • Skip all spice mix powder if you want.

Ingredients

  • Boiled Potatoes/aloo - 3 to 4
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red chilli powder / lal mirch powder - As per taste
  • Chaat masala - As per taste
  • FOR BATTER :
  • Gramflour / Besan - 1 cup
  • Rice flour / Chawal ka aata - 2 Tablespoon
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1/2 tsp (according to taste)
  • Carom seeds / Ajwain - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida / Hing - 1 teaspoon
  • Chaat masala - 1 Teaspoon
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Ginger green chili paste / Adrakh hari mirchi paste - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Water - As required
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful chopped
  • Fenugreek leaves / Hari methi - A handful chopped
  • All spice mix powder / Garam masala - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Baking soda - 1 pinch
  • Oil - As required
  • Green chili / Hari mirchi - 2

Instructions

  1. Take peeled and boiled potatoes. Cut it into the round shape thick slices. Arrange all potatoes slices in the plate.
  2. Sprinke salt, red chili powder, chaat masala on the both side of slices. Keep it aside.
  3. PREPARING BATTER :
  4. Take gram flour in a bowl. Add rice flour, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, carom seeds by rubbing it between palms, asafoetida, chaat masala, chili flakes, ginger green chili paste.
  5. Add water gradually to make lumps free thick consistency batter.
  6. Add coriander leaves, fenugreek leaves, all spice mix powder, baking soda. Mix well.
  7. Heat tawa on a low flame. Add oil. Now take potato slices. Dip a potato slice in the prepared batter and coat it evenly.
  8. Place it gently on the hot tawa. Put all potato slices like this. When surface turns light golden brown, flip them. Roast it to golden brown from both sides.
  9. While roasting pakoda add green chili on the tawa and roast it.
  10. Once done take out pakoda and green chillies on a plate.
  11. Tawa Pakoda - Instant Recipe is ready to serve with green chutney and ketchup.
