Rajasthani Karara is a very flavorful side dish for chapatis/rotis.

This recipe is just what you need when you suddenly discover there are no vegetables at home and have hardly time left to go get them .This recipe is a true rescuer, isn’t it  🙂

Ingredients

  • Gram Flour (Besan) - 1 cup
  • Blended curd - 1 cup
  • Green Chillies - 2
  • Cumin Seeds, mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon each
  • Asafoetida (heeng) - 1 pinch
  • Spices : Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Coriander Powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water and Oil

Instructions

  1. Take gram flour (besan) in a bowl, add salt and red chili powder - mix it well.
  2. Add a little water and mix it until small lumps are formed.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida.
  4. Add the lumps to the tadka / tempering and roast properly until they turn brown.
  5. Add more water to this to make a gravy.
  6. Add turmeric Powder and coriander powder.
  7. Boil for 5 minutes
  8. Slowly add 1 cup blended curd and stir in one direction until it boils.
  9. Add chopped green chilies to give it an extra flavor.
  10. For tadka, heat a pan and oil. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Cool down, add red chili powder and mix well. Spread over the karara now,
  11. The special and delicious dish - Rajasthani Karara is ready. Enjoy it with hot chapatis.
