The ‘Moong Dal and Dalia (broken wheat ) khichdi ‘ is a very delicious and healthy khichdi. It is a complete meal in itself. The recipe is simple so you can make this khichdi at home easily .

Ingredients

  • Dalia (broken wheat) : ½ cup
  • Yellow moong dal : ½ cup
  • Brown rice : ½ cup
  • Spinach (Palak) :½ cup
  • Fenugreek (methi) leaves : 1/2 cup
  • Coriander leaves : ½ cup
  • Grated carrot : ½ cup
  • Tomato : 1
  • Green chilli and ginger : 1 tablespoon
  • Garam masala powder : ½ tablespoon
  • Oil : 2 tablespoon
  • Cumin (Jeera) : ½ teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder : ½ teaspoon
  • Water : 3 cups

Instructions

  1. Chop all vegetables. Soak dalia, moong dal and brown rice for ½ hour
  2. In a pan, heat oil and add jeera (cumin seeds). Let it splutter
  3. Add all vegetables and rest of the ingredients (except for coriander leaves and masalas) and cook for two minutes
  4. Add the soaked dalia, brown rice and moong dal. Now add all the masalas and add water.
  5. Transfer it to a vessel which fits in the pressure cooker and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  6. Once done , open the cooker lid as soon as it cools down.
  7. Garnish the khichdi with coriander leaves . And there you go .
  8. The healthy and tasty moong dal and dalia (broken wheat ) khichdi is ready. Serve hot and enjoy it.
