Last weekend I tried making Missi tawa naan which is favourite of all of my family members. This tastes awesome with spicy and flavorsome curry as well as jeera rice.

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour/ gehun ka atta - 1 bowl
  • Gram flour/ besan : 1 bowl
  • Curd/ dahi - 1/2 cup
  • Baking soda - a pinch
  • Salt/ namak - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oil/ tel - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder/ lal mirch - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Heeng/ asafoetida - pinch
  • Turmeric powder/ haldi - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds/ til - 1 teaspoon
  • Mint/ pudina powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Butter/ makkhan - 2-3 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Add atta, besan, baking soda, salt, asafoetida, curd, turmeric, 1/4th teaspoon red chili powder, oil and make a normal roti like dough. Rest it for 20 minutes.
  2. Take a ball and make naan/ roti from the dough by applying ghee with the help of a brush. Sprinkle 1/4th teaspoon of red chili powder, mint powder and sesame seeds over it.
  3. Roll the naan a little bit more with the help of a rolling pin. Flip the naan and then apply some water with your fingers on it.
  4. Put the water side of naan over tawa and cook it on a medium flame for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Once the naan starts bubbling and the dough starts drying, turn the tawa over the flame keeping a 2-inch distance from the top.
  6. Once the naan is completely done, remove it from flame and apply some butter to it before serving.
  7. Delicious 'Missi Tawa Naan' is ready to be served with spicy curry!
