Ingredients

  • Fresh cream/ malaai - half bowl
  • Green peas/ matar (boiled) - 1 bowl
  • Chopped onions/ pyaz - 1 bowl
  • Green methi/ fenugreek - 1 bowl
  • Cashews/ kaju paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Chopped green chilies/ hari mirch and garlic/ lehsun - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili/ lal mirch - half teaspoon
  • Coriander/ dhaniya powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole red chilies/ khadi lal mirch -2
  • Kasoori methi - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/4th teaspoon
  • Heeng/ asafoetida - a pinch
  • Cumin seeds/ jeera - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ghee - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt/ namak - 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan on medium flame and add asafoetida, jeera, whole red chillies, chopped green chillies, garlic and chopped onions to it. Saute for 5-7 minutes till the onions turn pink in colour.
  2. Add boiled peas and saute for another 5 minutes. Add green methi, salt, red chilli, cashew paste, cream, garam masala, coriander powder, kasoori methi and cook for another 15 minutes with a covered lid.
  3. Put off the gas when ghee starts releasing from the curry.
  4. Delicious Rajasthani special 'Methi Matar Malai' is ready to be served with roti/rice!
