Ingredients

  • Breads - 4
  • Tomatoes/ tamatar - 2, finely chopped
  • Potatoes/ aloo - 4, boiled and chopped
  • Onions/ pyaz - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Sweet tamarind/ imly chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Green chilli chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Roasted cumin/ jeera powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt/ namak as per taste
  • Red chilli/ lal mirch powder - a pinch
  • Roasted peanuts/ moongfali - a handful
  • Bhujia, grated coconut/ nariyal, coriander leaves/ dhaniya patta as required for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Toast breads in a toaster or a pan.
  2. Apply sweet tamarind paste on breads and then cut them into 4 pieces or in bite size. Spread them on a plate.
  3. Mix potatoes, tomatoes, onion, salt, red chilli powder, cumin powder and green chilli chutney in a bowl.
  4. Spread this mixture on bread. Add peanuts on top.
  5. Delicious and yummy 'Masala Toast in Kolkata Style' is ready to be served. Garnish it with some bhujia, shredded coconut and coriander leaves!
