Lauki Ke Koftey With Curd Gravy – Delicious
Ingredients
- FOR KOFTA -
- Lauki/ bottle gourd/ doodhi - 1
- Carom seeds/ ajwain - 1 teaspoon
- Salt/ namak to taste
- Gram flour/ besan - 2 teaspoons
- FOR GRAVY -
- Chopped onions/ pyaz - 1 big
- Chopped green chilies/ hari mirch - 2
- Tomato/ tamatar puree - 1 bowl
- Spices/ masale - turmeric/ haldi, red chili/ lal mirch, coriander/ dhaniya powder, cumin seeds/ jeera, and garam masala as per taste
- Oil/ tel - 2 tablespoons and remaining for deep frying koftey
- Curd/ dahi (at room temperature) - 1/2 cup
- Coriander leaves/ dhaniya for garnishing
- Salt/ namak to taste
Instructions
- FOR KOFTEY - Peel and grate the lauki and add salt to it. Rest it for 5 minutes and then squeeze out the extra water from it. Keep this water aside as will be used for making gravy.
- Add besan and ajwain to the grated lauki and mix well. Add some water (if required) to make pakora like consistency. Meanwhile heat enough oil for frying pakoras.
- Make medium size balls for pakoras and deep fry them on a slow flame. Keep them aside and let us prepare the gravy now.
- FOR GRAVY - Heat some oil and add asafoetida and cumin seeds to it. Let the seeds crackle.
- Add chopped onions and fry then till they become translucent. Add green chilies too.
- Add all spices and salt except garam masala. Cook them for a while and then add tomato puree to the curry.
- Cook the mixture for 10-15 minutes on medium flame till oil starts leaving from sides.
- Add curd now and keep stirring continuously for around a minute. Add fried koftey and garam masala now. Switch off the flame in a minute.
- Delicious and flavorsome 'Lauki K Koftey With Curd Gravy' is ready to be served with roti/ rice.
