Hyderabadi Haleema – Famous Dish of Hyderabad
Ingredients
- Arhar dal - 1 bowl
- Asafoetida/Hing - 1 pinch
- Kasoori methi - 1 tablespoon
- Cumin seeds/ jeera - 1/2 tablespoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tablespoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 tablespoon (1/4 for tadka and 1/4 for batter)
- Ciba garam masala - 1/2 tablespoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tablespoon
- Chopped coriander leaves to garnish
- Lemon juice as required for garnishing
Instructions
- First of all boil arhar dal in hot water for 2 -3 minutes on high flame. Grind it and keep it in bowl big.
- Mix all spices well and make thin batter from it. Batter should be like Kadhi batter.
- Put kadhai on stove and add some oil. Add hing, mustard and cumin seeds to it.
- Pour the batter in kadhai and cook for 10 minutes.
- Tadka - Heat some oil in a separate pan and add some oil. Add hing, mustard and cumin seeds to it. Add chili powder and mix well.
- Pour this tadka on kadhai. Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves and lemon juice.
- Hyderabadi Haleema is ready to be served.
