Ingredients

  • For Gatte :-
  • Besan/Gram flour - 1 Cup
  • Red chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Carom seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Garam masala/all spice mix - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Heeng/asafoetida - a pinch
  • Dry mint powder - 1/2 Teaspoon (optional)
  • Oil for moin - 2 to 3 Tablespoon
  • For Curry :-
  • Fresh Curd - 1 Cup
  • Green chilli - 1 chopped
  • Coriander leaves - for garnishing
  • Red chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Dry mint powder - 1/2 Teaspoon (optional)
  • Garam masala - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Ginger-Garlic paste - 1 Tablespoon
  • Coriander powder - 2 Tablespoon
  • Fresh cream/malai - 2 Tablespoon (optional)
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Heeng/asafoetida - a pinch
  • Oil - 2 to 3 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl and add besan, salt, red chilli powder, dry mint powder, garam masala, oil for moin, jeera, carom seeds. Mix well.
  2. Add water to make a semi-soft dough.
  3. Meanwhile, boil water in a pan or kadai.
  4. Take a small portion of the dough and roll it in long cylindrical shape.
  5. Add this gatte to boiling water and boil on high flame. When it comes to the surface of the water then gatte is cooked.
  6. Strain it and transfer to plate. Cut into pieces.
  7. Take a kadai, add oil and heat it.
  8. Take a bowl and add curd, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt. Mix well.
  9. Add cumin and heeng to oil. Then add curd mix to it. Boil it on high flame.
  10. Constantly stir it until it boils. Cook it on low flame until the oil comes on sides and top.
  11. Add ginger-garlic paste and mix. Then add water as required in which the gatte was boiled. Mix and cook on medium flame.
  12. Add fresh cream and mix well.
  13. Add gatte to curry and boil it for a minute. Then add dry mint leaves powder and garam masala. Mix well.
  14. Delicious 'Gatte' is ready to be served. Garnish it with green chilli and coriander leaves and serve hot with roti/phulka.
