Cabbage kofta curry is a rich curry dish very popular in north india.

Cabbage kofta curry is a very fine Mughlai dish with fried cabbage dumplings dipped in thick spicy gravy. Cabbage kofta curry is made with shredded cabbage mixed in gram flour, rice flour and regular spices dipped in rich spicy gravy made with tomatoes, onions and lots of spices. This curry is best served with hot rotis/parathas and accompanied with other side vegetable dish and raita.

Ingredients

  • Cabbage - 1cup (finely chopped)
  • Salt - salt to taste
  • Gram flour - 3 tablespoons
  • Rice flour - 1 tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1.5 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1.5 teaspoon
  • Oil - 2cup
  • Coriander leaves - 1/4cup (finely chopped)
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion - 2medium sized (finely chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Gram masala powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Tomato - 1 medium sized (finely chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl add cabbage, gram flour, rice flour, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, coriander leaves, 1 tablespoon water and mix it well.
  2. In a pan , add oil and fry all the koftas till it turns golden brown.
  3. In a pan , add oil, cumin seeds and saute. Add onion fry for 1 minute. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for 1 minute.
  4. Add tomato and fry till it becomes soft. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and fry for 5 minutes.
  5. Add 1/2cup water and cook for 2 minuted. Add garam masala and coriander leaves. Cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add kofta balls and mix it gently. Turn off the flame.
  7. Cabbage kofta curry is ready to be served. You can garnish using coriander leaves.
