Baked Khasta Kachori Chaat – Yummy
Ingredients
- Moong Dal - 1/2 cup ( yellow)
- Wheat flour/Atta - 1 cup
- All purpose flour/ maida - 1/2 cup
- Baking powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Oil/ tel - 1 1/2 tablespoon
- Ghee - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- FOR KACHORI MASALA -
- Turmeric powder/ haldi - 1/4 teaspoon
- Ginger chili/ hari mirch paste - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili powder/ lal mirch powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- lemon juice/ neembu - 1 teaspoon
- Oil for tempering - 1 tablespoon
- Asafoetida/ hing - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- FOR CHAAT-
- Curd/ dahi churned - 1/2 cup
- Cumin seeds/ jeera powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red chili/ lal mirch powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Khajoor chutney - 1/4 cup
- Green chutney - 1/4 cup
- Coriander leaves/ hara dhaniya chopped - 1/4 cup
- Sev - 1/4 cup
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Soak moong dal in water for 2 hours.
- In a mixing bowl, add atta, maida, baking powder, salt and oil. Make a soft dough with water. Knead with ghee, cover it and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Crush the moong dal in mixture with little water making a paste.
- In a pan, add oil and hing and do the tempering. Add moong dal paste, sugar and all the spices except lemon juice.
- Go on stirring and cook the dal till it leaves the pan and crumbles. Let it cool for a while.
- Make small rounds from the dough. Place a spoonful of dal mixture and prepare kachori. Flattened the kachori.
- Brush the kachori with oil and place it on greased baking tray.
- Bake them in oven on both sides for 30 minutes each at 375 degree F.
- Reduce the temperature to 200 degree F and bake for 1 hour. Check in between.
- Let the kachoris cool down.
- In a bowl, break 3 kachoris into pieces. Add curd mixed with jeera powder, salt and red chili powder.
- Add khajoor and green chutney as per your taste. Garnish with coriander leaves and sev.
- Mouth watering 'Baked Khasta Kachori Chaat' is ready to be served.
